1. I lost my receipt. What do I do now?
A legible retail receipt that shows the purchase of the rebate-eligible products during the effective dates of the rebate is required to apply for the rebate. The store that sold you the product may be able to provide a duplicate receipt. Providing your retailer with specific information about the product and the date of your purchase is often helpful when making such requests.
2. Will a copy of my credit-card company statement be an acceptable substitute for a lost retail receipt?
No. A credit-card company statement cannot be accepted as a substitute for a retail receipt. A credit-card statement doesn't identify the products that were purchased; it only shows that a purchase occurred at a given place of business.
3. Should I send my original receipt or will a copy do?
You may send a legible copy of your receipt and retain the original for your records.
4. What is the UPC Panel that my rebate application asks for?
The UPC (Universal Product Code) panel is a unique identifying bar-code panel on the exterior of the product package. If you find more than one bar-code panel on your package, the required UPC panel will be the one including the prefix number 18208, followed by another five-digit number that is specific to the Nikon product contained in the package. Some Nikon packages also include a separate UPC bar-code panel that specifies the product's serial number. Any additional bar-code panels are likely those of the retailer and are not acceptable substitutes for the required UPC panel. Please see the illustration on your Rebate Application Form.
5. My rebate-eligible product did not include an original (yellow) one-year worldwide warranty document as specified on my rebate application. What do I do?
A (yellow) worldwide warranty document is not provided with Nikon digital SLR cameras, COOLPIX cameras or COOLSCAN scanners and is not required to be included with rebate applications for these products.
Nikon 35mm SLR cameras, Nikkor interchangeable lenses and Nikon Speedlights imported by Nikon Inc. for the purpose of retail resale in the United States, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, are packaged with an original (yellow) one year worldwide warranty document, and this document is a rebate application requirement for each eligible product (photocopies cannot be accepted). If your purchase of a Nikon SLR camera, Nikkor interchangeable lens or Nikon Speedlight did not include this document, you should contact your Nikon authorized dealer.
6. What are grey market Nikon imaging products?
Generally, a manufacturer works with a single importer which can sell and support their products in a given region. The importer usually has local dealers and distributors who are authorized to resell the imported products; this is called a distribution channel. Grey market refers to merchandise that is imported and sold by companies outside of a manufacturer's normal distribution channel. Nikon Inc. is the authorized importer of Nikon imaging products in the United States, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Nikon imaging products imported for the purpose of resale to any of the areas listed above are grey market Nikon imaging products if they are imported by anyone other than Nikon Inc.
7. Are grey market Nikon imaging products eligible for rebates?
No. Nikon Inc. does not offer rebates for grey market Nikon products.

8. How can I identify a Nikon imaging product as grey market?
Ask your Nikon authorized retailer. In some jurisdictions, retailers are required by law to identify grey market merchandise or otherwise disclose this information to customers.
If the retailer is selling the product at two different prices, the lower priced product is likely to be a grey market product.
Nikon film cameras, interchangeable lenses and Speedlights imported by Nikon Inc. will include a two-part warranty document in the package. The header area of Part One of this document reads: "This is your Nikon Inc. [time period] Limited Warranty (valid in the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands)." Absence of this two-part warranty document is an indication that the product is grey market. Nikon digital imaging products imported by Nikon Inc. will include a single-page warranty document. The header area of this warranty document reads: "This is your Nikon Inc. [time period] Limited Warranty (valid in the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Central or South America and the Caribbean)." Absence of this single-page warranty document is an indication that the product is grey market.
9. In order to qualify for the rebate, I have been requested to send a section of the box. Can this be avoided?
No. Nikon Inc. requires rebate applicants to send an original section of the package for several reasons. Providing a specified section of the product package allows Nikon to:
Verify that the purchase is new.
Verify that the product isn't grey market.
Identify (and reject) duplicate applications related to the same product (serial number).
Without control mechanisms like this, we would be unable to provide the added value of consumer rebate offers.
10.   My rebate application date has expired - can I still receive a rebate?
All special offers must have a beginning date and an end date. To do otherwise would render them unmanageable. Therefore, if you miss the deadline date for your application, you will not be eligible for the rebate.
11. The store where I made my purchase was unable to supply me with a rebate form. What do I do now?
Some Nikon Inc. rebate applications (COOLPIX cameras, for example) can be downloaded from www.nikonusa.com, and some authorized Nikon Inc. dealers or resellers will place their Nikon-approved version of the Nikon Inc. rebate application on their web sites. However, certain Nikon products require a Nikon Inc. rebate application that's individualized for each authorized dealer. Individualized rebate applications are pre-printed with your authorized dealer's information clearly visible and must be provided to you by your dealer. Retailers not authorized to sell certain rebate-eligible Nikon products may be unable to provide the necessary rebate application. Call 1-800-NIKONUS or check Where to Buy on Nikonusa.com for the dealers authorized to provide individualized dealer-imprinted rebate applications.
12. My purchase was made from an Internet retailer and no purchase receipt was supplied. Will the packing slip be a satisfactory substitute for a purchase receipt?
Purchases from an Internet retailer are typically delivered with a packing list which contains information similar to a retail receipt. Nikon Inc. will accept a legible packing list instead of a purchase receipt providing the packing list shows customer information (including name and address), the rebate-eligible product purchased and the date of purchase.
13. Why does Nikon Inc. request that I supply my email address?
While an email address is not a requirement, an email address can help us respond to or contact you in regard to questions relative to your application.
14. If I still have questions about my rebate application, how can I contact Nikon?
Due to the high volume of rebate applications and the natural chain process involved, we are unable to address specific rebate issues related to applications submitted fewer than the maximum normal processing time of six weeks. If your rebate application is more than six weeks old, please visit the Contact Us section of Nikon USA website. Select Rebates from the Category menu. You will be presented with an email form. If your rebate application is more than six weeks old, you may also contact Nikon toll-free at 800-438-8782.
